Rita Maximilian-Atassi – Trusting Your Path

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Rita Maximilian-Atassi. Rita is a Yoga and Meditation Teacher, an Institute of Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and one of my longest and dearest friends in the US. We talked all about teaching yoga, blessings of open-heart surgery, bio-individuality in health coaching, changing career paths and finding what lights you up and more.

This was a conversation that we recorded pre-quarantine, I feel like it still sheds light on how to be resilient and follow your path even though it may not look like what you thought it would be.

My favorite healing nugget from Rita is “I would probably tell myself (from 20 years ago), just be patient and listen more, listen more to your intuition. Be OK with whatever comes up. It might not look like the way you thought you would fit in. It might look a very different way. At the time, this was something I couldn’t even imagine.”

You can find out more about Rita and her work at her website and her Instagram. Rita is generously offering a 10% discount to all her online health coaching programs and her upcoming West VA retreat when you mention listening to this podcast. She is also offering a Free Health History to one of our listeners who will listen to this podcast, share it and comment with a ❤️at the related post here by April 7, 2020.

Julie Humphreys – Accepting The Guidance And Going All In

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Julie Humphreys, Intuitive Medium, Shamanic Healing Practitioner, Tarot and Oracle Card Professional, Herbalist, and a Reiki Master. I’ve had the good fortune of knowing Julie for years and having had a chance to work with her. At the beginning of the interview, I am sharing my personal Soul Session reading with Julie and how she blew me away. Julie and I talked about:

  • Julie’s journey of noticing the roots of her intuition throughout her whole life as she looks back, and how later in life she began to hear her intuition get stronger and decided to follow it.
  • How motherhood was one of the gateways for her intuition to get stronger and louder, and for her to own her gifts.
  • What spiritual wellness means.
  • The importance of maintaining energetic boundaries as a healer and choosing when and how to be open for intuitive guidance and messages, as well as how and when to share them.
  • How Julie’s mediumship and intuition work, and her tips for connecting with your intuition.
  • How discovering that our passed away loved ones are OK through mediumship can be deeply healing.
  • The truth that love is the main message our loved ones always want to relay to us.
  • Recognizing the signs of spiritual transformation and prioritizing seeing another healer when you need clarity or when you are going through a soul transformation.
  • And more.

My favorite healing nugget from Julie is “To someone who is coming into all of this (discovering their intuition) I would say go full hog and explore everything! Have fun with it and do anything and everything that comes to you.”

You can find out more about Julie and her work on her website, on Facebook and on Instagram. • His physical, emotional and spiritual healing journey from Lyme disease and mold toxicity,
  • How self-understanding may lead to self-love, forgiveness, and acceptance. How metaphors that can help us get close to our physical symptoms and conditions,
  • His curiosity in the unknown and unseen leading him to the healing practices he offers today,
  • What hypnosis and past life regression are and how they can be helpful for you. How do past life regression and hypnosis relate and differ,

  • Trust and vulnerability during a healing session,

  • The importance of healing the inner male and offering healing services geared towards men,

Belinda Farrell – Following Your Impulses And Your Joy

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Belinda Farrell, energy healer, author, Huna teacher, Ho’oponopono practitioner, hypnotherapist, stunt car driver, wild dolphin swim guide and fire walker. It was an absolute pleasure to talk to Belinda and hear all about her extraordinary life experiences from deciding to be a stunt car driver to having an impulse to learn to swim so that she could swim with the dolphins. She had a lot to say about following your gut instinct and taking the leap into the unknown. We also talked about:

  • Belinda’s extraordinary story of how she healed her spinal injuries by using ancient Hawaiian chants and rituals of forgiveness,
  • the need for clearing the cords that weigh us down and don’t allow us to be fully ourselves,
  • taking responsibility for all that you are and all that you are experiencing,
  • listening to and trusting inner guidance, as well as following it with all your being,
  • how her first job as Snow White at Disneyland was the perfect metaphor for her spiritual awakening journey through the seven chakras,
  • and your ability to awaken your inner healer with four simple phrases ‘I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.”

My favorite healing nugget from Belinda is “(Self-healers and healers) I just love you. I admire anybody who takes it upon themselves to do healing, to make themselves and their lives better. I just think it is such a worthy endeavor to do that. And it is not easy, it’s really not easy but it’s so worth it in the end. If I can help in any way just to give you the confidence to know that everything works out for the best. Even if you made a choice and you think that it is bad, you always have another choice. So there are no bad choices because you always learn from whatever you’ve done. Hallelujah and keep moving forward!”

Shelly has found deep healing in her beloved practices of yoga, Reiki, and mantras, and shares them in her classes and workshops. We talked about the endurance it takes to be on a healing journey, as well as tiny self-healing moments that can make all the difference.

My favorite healing nugget from Shelly is “Healing is a transformational experience that is forever ongoing. You have to be compassionate towards yourself. You have to allow yourself to be vulnerable and endure whatever comes up.”

Diane Murphy – Healing Through Poetry

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Diane Murphy, the founder of the Big Fish Learning Community, English teacher, educator, poetry-geek, self-healer and creator of educational programs for teens that allow them to be themselves. Diane was incredibly honest about her own healing and growing journey, and her willingness to be open to learning from her body’s clues and adjusting her self-healing activities. We also talked about:

  • her leap of faith in creating a safe place for young teens to express who they are,
  • the importance of creating and nurturing a community,
  • the rise of the feminine,
  • how poetry can be healing and so much more.

Diane’s enthusiasm and love about poetry are infectious. During our conversation, Diane shared Mary Oliver’s poem Wild Geese. Here are a few other healing poems that Diane mentioned during our chat: The Journey by Mary Oliver, Two Kinds of Intelligence by Rumi, and Kindness by Naomi Shibab Nye.

My favorite healing nugget from Diane is “If you are what you practice, who are you?”

Laurie J. Hartley – Leaning Into Nature

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Laurie J. (Robert) Hartley, Mother, Therapist, Author, Healer, and Artist. In her therapy practice, Laurie lovingly combines energy healing with intentional space holding. Laurie and I talked about:

  • how journaling can be healing,
  • the self-healing benefits of getting quiet in nature,
  • how Laurie’s sacred practice of meditating with a crystal on her nature walks and then leaving it for someone else to pick up has turned into her book Heart Stone Messages,
  • combining different healing modalities to find your own unique blend,
  • and the importance of making connecting with yourself a priority as a mom (especially after sleepless nights and being covered in puke).

My favorite healing nugget from Laurie is “There’s something about meditating out in nature that I have a much harder time getting when I’m home, inside walls.”

You can find out more about Laurie and her work at her website and follow her nature notes on Instagram. You can purchase Laurie’s book Heart Stone Messages on her website. Kristin Thomas – Healing Imperfectly

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Kristin Thomas, Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and Holistic Health Coach. Kristin has an amazing story of learning to heal her own chronic conditions including ulcerative colitis, hormone imbalances, leaky gut, food sensitivities and more. Kristin and I talked about:

  • Healing the body naturally with food and supplements,
  • The mind-body connection and looking at the imbalances in the mind and body as opportunities to heal deeply,
  • How our health is a continuous flow and the goal isn’t perfection but supporting our system as best we can,
  • The importance of appreciation and gratitude for all that our bodies are doing right,
  • Tapping into the signals your body is giving you,
  • Trusting the healing process (knowing the next few steps instead of all of it) and that healing is possible,
  • Working with multiple healers,
  • Trusting that as a healer who you get as clients are exactly who you are meant to help, and more.

My favorite healing nugget from Kristin is “I think so many people today feel so disconnected from their bodies and what’s going on. In big part because of a lack of understanding of how our bodies actually work. They almost feel like strangers in their own bodies, their bodies betrayed them or it’s doing something wrong and they don’t know why. You can kind of feel like you begin to separate your identity from your body. It is a really scary place to be and that’s exactly where I was in. The mind-body connection is really coming back home to your body and starting to love your body again, even if it’s not perfect. There isn’t such a thing like perfect health. You maintain and manage good health, but there are always things you can be working on. It’s about appreciating where you are and gratitude for everything your body is doing right. Because it’s not always doing everything wrong. There are a lot of things that are going right.”

You can find out more about Kristin and her work at her website. You can also connect with her on Facebook and Instagram. Kristin has two free resources that you can download and dive into: Gut Healing Recipe Guide and 10 Tips To Naturally Improve Digestion.

Sheila Botelho – Supporting Your Cyclical Needs

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Sheila Botelho, a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, sustainable and cyclical self-healing enthusiast, mother and a compassionate guide for women who are looking to redefine their relationship with themselves and their health. Sheila and I touched upon:

  • the cyclical nature of our healing needs,
  • investing in our well-being before the menstruation phase, peri-menopause or menopause, or periods of loss hit us so that we have our wells full by the time cycles of life find us,
  • the need for prioritizing self-healing and self-care during periods of grief,
  • noticing how we feel and taking action on things and areas of our lives where we don’t feel as well as we could,
  • and being open to our paths changing and evolving as healers.

Sheila and I mentioned these two books in our conversation: Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder by Arianna Huffington, and The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine.

My favorite healing nugget from Sheila is “I would think I had to go 90 miles an hour every single day, even the week before my cycle, even while my period was happening. The body is actually telling us: you know what you need to slow down, you can chill out, you can get extra rest, maybe you don’t even need to work out today.”

Jocelyn Mercado – Following Your Calling To Heal The Earth

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Jocelyn Mercado, transformational life and business coach, writer, environmentalist and the creator of wonderful online summits that bring together healers and feminine leaders. Jocelyn works with groups and individuals to help them find and walk in their unique soul path in service to the planet. Jocelyn and I talked about:

  • how the birth of her first daughter led to her sacred feminine awakening and ignited the question of what kind of world she wanted to create for her and for herself, and how she was drawn to indigenous wisdom and living in harmony with the Earth in her search for an answer to this question,
  • her current work, which is all about creating a support container for a global community who knows and feels that there is a better way to live and be,
  • committing to healing yourself and your fears and doubts as a service to the Earth and everyone else, and through your own healing, being able to share your message and answer your calling that the world needs you to do,
  • creating positive change in the world in your own unique way and knowing what to do by listening to what you are called to do, embodying your truth and power, and living and speaking from your heart to be of service to the Earth, trusting your power and calling as a self-healer and healer, and making self-care a priority,
  • healing the feminine as well as the masculine aspects within us and opening up to bringing forth the vision of a better world (feminine) as well as inspired action (masculine),
  • the healing power of a community of healers coming together,
  • the importance of grounding and physically connecting with the Earth with bare hands and feet (here’s a link to the indoor earthing mat I mentioned during the conversation.)
  • healing the fierce Mother Earth by showing her the same fierce love, respect and attention that she so unconditionally shows and gives us (Jocelyn is working on a beautiful project on this subject. You can find more about it at this link),
  • and knowing that the vision of a better Earth and a better world exists within our hearts and making that a reality is within our grasp (here’s a beautiful blog post by Jocelyn where she is sharing a dream she had with the vision of a healed world).

My favorite healing nugget from Jocelyn is “Every time that any one of us heals ourselves even just a little bit, it ripples out into the world. If somebody heals from a fear that has been affecting them all of their life, holding them back from really doing what they wanted to do all their life, then they are able to step forward and share more honestly and more courageously the message that’s in their heart, then that ripples out and inspires and influences other people. Then they do something differently, it goes out and out and out. I believe the most important work we can possibly do in our lives is to heal ourselves and by doing so we are healing the world, we are healing the whole, we are healing the collective.”

You can find out more about Jocelyn and her work at her website wearesacredplanet.com and on her Facebook page. Jocelyn generously is offering a 4-week free online course called Learning To Fly, which is all about helping people leave their fear behind and truly embody the future they wish to create. Towards the end of our conversation, Jocelyn shared the powerful intuitive inspiration she received about this course, which gave me chills. I encourage you to listen to the entire conversation to hear it.
