Remembering Your Oceanness

Here’s my word of the year for 2019: ocean, and here’s why:

  • We are all tiny droplets of love in the ocean of the loving and kind universe. This is the inspiration behind the name of my website and blog. We are all ‘a drop of om’ in the ocean of vibration, frequency, and beauty, aka ‘OM’ness. We all carry the ocean, ‘the OM’ within us and we are connected to it every single moment. The ocean isn’t complete without you and you can’t exist without its gentle and loving care and support. In 2019, I want to remember this more and help you do the same.
  • Salt water heals. Yes to more baths with epsom salt, more walks at the beach, swimming more, sweating more, and yes to letting life flow through me, sometimes with tears that remind me to trust life each and every day, especially on days when I can’t make sense of the news or find myself in fear and doubt.
  • Yes to long conversations with my body, my little ocean oasis, my saltwater crystalline temple, my home in this seemingly physical lifetime.
  • Yes to connecting with and being of service to other droplets in the ocean, the best way I can. Even though the path isn’t always clear, yes to showing up for it with all my heart. I am so grateful to have connected with you. Thank you for trusting me and swimming in the waters of healing energetic wounds with me.

What is your word of the year and why? What are your intentions for 2019? I’d love to know. Please comment and share.

Tending To Your Needs

A common theme in the clients I see is recognizing and tending to their needs. The needs get lost in the urgency of life and in taking care of others. We all need to have healthy ways to recognize, name and take care of our needs by ourselves or with help.

Here’s what I know about needs:

  • They are your responsibility. Period. Not your partner’s, not your parents’, not your children’s, you need to learn to take care of yourself and meet your needs with or without help. Asking for getting help to meet your needs (without blame, with precision and without drama) is a skill you practice and learn.
  • Your needs can co-exist with the needs of others. In other words, you are allowed to have needs at the same time as others around you.
  • Your need for safety and security, and physical nourishment and care come before your need to heal, to unfold emotionally, and to be creative. You first need to care for the animal in you, your physical being the best way you can and make sure that that animal feels nourished, safe and secure. Everything else comes after.
  • Your needs, most likely, will never be 100% met. You still will do the best possible care-taking you can at every single day and moment. You wouldn’t leave a little puppy or kitten on the side of the road, hungry. You need to do the same for yourself. And remember: safety and nourished body come first.
  • There will be days when your needs will not be met but need to be heard. Your need for rest, renewal, creativity, sensuality, feeling alive, joyful, heard, seen, understood, etc. etc. are all waiting for you to acknowledge them. It is your job to sit down either with yourself or with someone else to name them. Naming a need is your best tool to let the animal in you know, that even though today was tough, you still hear her or him, you still care for her/him and you are here to pick up the pieces tomorrow or whenever you can.

Offering this to you as a reminder to become aware of your needs this holiday season and to take care of yourself as best as you can. I am here if you need help.

Connect With The Sun

Today take a moment to pause, open a window or step outside and connect with the sun. For all of us living in the Northern hemisphere, winter is here, which means less time outside. For all of us living with energetic wounds, it is absolutely essential to expose ourselves to more light.

One of the things that happen when we get energetic wounds is our electricity, our light diminishes. A great way to replenish that is to turn your face to the sun (literally) for 5 to 10 minutes every day.

Here’s how I do it: when I am outside or when I open a sun-facing window or door, I close my eyes, open my palms and turn both my face and hands towards the sun, watching the light play behind my eyelids and holding the intention of receiving the extraordinary gift of light that is there for all of us every single day. Before opening my eyes I take a huge deep breath, taking the goodness of the sun into my lungs and all my cells.

Keep doing this until you feel radiant and filled with light, preferably every day to receive the light you need. If you are interested in shedding more light on your energetic wounds and begin the journey of healing them, let’s work together.

My Favorite Oracle Card Decks

One of my favorite ways to access my intuition is through using oracle cards. They offer a beautiful way to open yourself up to what the universe wishes to say to you. There are lots of oracle cards available. Below, I am listing four card decks that I absolutely love.

The best way to work with a card deck is by trusting what you need to see, feel and understand at that moment will magically present itself to you. When you open your deck the first time, make sure to spread it out and touch every card. You can then shuffle it a few times and select as many as you need that day. Some days I pick one as an intention of the day. Some days I select three or five to receive guidance about a specific situation. The most important thing is your pure intention to connect with your inner knowing and the wisdom of the universe. Once you pick your cards, put them at a shelf or a place that is visible to you for receiving inspiration every time you see them.

Here are my favorite card decks:

  • The Wild Offering Oracle by Tosha Silver: This deck is an absolute delight. It is my favorite deck for choosing a daily intent. Tosha Silver keeps inspiring you to offer your troubles to the love in the universe. What would life be like if we all trusted that all our needs would be met? How would we feel if we knew love is always there to hold, support, nourish and replenish us? Invest in this deck to find out.
  • Work Your Light Oracle Cards by Rebecca Campbell: These cards are beyond amazing for healers and light-workers. They offer a way to dive deep into receiving guidance about any situation you may find yourself in. I love the action prompts at the end of each card’s explanation. The illustrations are so beautiful and rich with symbols. They are lovely to look at and meditate with.
  • Crystal Angels Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue: I absolutely love the illustrations of these decks. They are a wonderful and imaginative way to dive into the realm of crystals. Each card is paired with a guided message and a corresponding crystal. There are brief introductions to the crystals after each card’s explanation.
  • Messages From Your Angels Oracle Cards by Doreen Virtue: This is one of my favorite card decks. I feel supported by the universe every time I touch these cards. All the messages are full of love and wisdom. In a world where feeling supported is rare, these cards offer a beautiful refuge and remind you that you are always loved and supported.

Fire Of Transformation

In spiritual healing, we talk a lot about being, but there is something that needs to be acknowledged about doing. Once you know where you are (being), you can begin to enlarge the container of your awareness to hold all that you are. A large enough container then can be shaped with your consciousness, this is the part where you are determining your multidimensional fluidity to take a new life-affirming form. In this form, you become something else. You transform into the energetic expression of the person you are meant to be.

Transformation needs fire. Accepting who you are, you expand the container of your awareness to encompass all your particles in love. And within the container of love, you start the transformation into the highest expression of yourself by igniting the fire of doing.

Doing is your daily practice (your fire) for staying on track with your transformation. Doing is saying to yourself: I will take care of my physical and emotional needs, and the needs of my dreams, relationships and loving connections. Doing is making it a priority to do your self-care each and every day in whatever way you feel is best for you. Doing is doing the dishes, paying the bills, refueling your car. Doing is continuing to hold yourself in love and to meet your needs even when you fail, are in pain or struggle to find balance in your life. Doing is taking time out of your day to connect with and nourish your soul and your relationships.

Doing is the fire of transformation that makes being even more delicious, precious and worthwhile. Doing and being go hand in hand in the expression of your wholeness.

So do and be, not just one or the other.

Damla
