Jocelyn Mercado – Following Your Calling To Heal The Earth

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Jocelyn Mercado, transformational life and business coach, writer, environmentalist and the creator of wonderful online summits that bring together healers and feminine leaders. Jocelyn works with groups and individuals to help them find and walk in their unique soul path in service to the planet. Jocelyn and I talked about:

  • how the birth of her first daughter led to her sacred feminine awakening and ignited the question of what kind of world she wanted to create for her and for herself, and how she was drawn to indigenous wisdom and living in harmony with the Earth in her search for an answer to this question,
  • her current work, which is all about creating a support container for a global community who knows and feels that there is a better way to live and be,
  • committing to healing yourself and your fears and doubts as a service to the Earth and everyone else, and through your own healing, being able to share your message and answer your calling that the world needs you to do,
  • creating positive change in the world in your own unique way and knowing what to do by listening to what you are called to do, embodying your truth and power, and living and speaking from your heart to be of service to the Earth, trusting your power and calling as a self-healer and healer, and making self-care a priority,
  • healing the feminine as well as the masculine aspects within us and opening up to bringing forth the vision of a better world (feminine) as well as inspired action (masculine),
  • the healing power of a community of healers coming together,
  • the importance of grounding and physically connecting with the Earth with bare hands and feet (here’s a link to the indoor earthing mat I mentioned during the conversation.)
  • healing the fierce Mother Earth by showing her the same fierce love, respect and attention that she so unconditionally shows and gives us (Jocelyn is working on a beautiful project on this subject. You can find more about it at this link),
  • and knowing that the vision of a better Earth and a better world exists within our hearts and making that a reality is within our grasp (here’s a beautiful blog post by Jocelyn where she is sharing a dream she had with the vision of a healed world).

My favorite healing nugget from Jocelyn is “Every time that any one of us heals ourselves even just a little bit, it ripples out into the world. If somebody heals from a fear that has been affecting them all of their life, holding them back from really doing what they wanted to do all their life, then they are able to step forward and share more honestly and more courageously the message that’s in their heart, then that ripples out and inspires and influences other people. Then they do something differently, it goes out and out and out. I believe the most important work we can possibly do in our lives is to heal ourselves and by doing so we are healing the world, we are healing the whole, we are healing the collective.”

You can find out more about Jocelyn and her work at her website wearesacredplanet.com and on her Facebook page. Jocelyn generously is offering a 4-week free online course called Learning To Fly, which is all about helping people leave their fear behind and truly embody the future they wish to create. Towards the end of our conversation, Jocelyn shared the powerful intuitive inspiration she received about this course, which gave me chills. I encourage you to listen to the entire conversation to hear it.

Being In Love

Here’s the purpose of our lives: being in love with life. Wherever you are, can you be in love? Whatever you are doing, can you do it with love? Whatever your body, mind, soul, relationships present to you, can you see it with love? When you get lost, can you come back to love, again and again, and again?

Love is the purpose of your existence. Love is what connects us all, what heals us, what gives us the energy to keep going, and keep lifting ourselves up.

Love is what makes it all worthwhile. Adding love to where you are, what you do, how you do it, how you connect, how you remember, how you honor, how you realize what really is happening within you and around you, changes everything.

Alchemize your life with love. Just keep adding it in by holding the intention of being, doing and becoming love.

If you need help with healing your energetic wounds and falling deeper in love with yourself and with life, I am here to help.

With love and light,

Damla

Healing Explained

Here’s a sneak peek of my interview with Ellie Phillips-Burdge for Peace Embodied membership. In this video I am explaining:

  • What are the three layers of healing?
  • What are energetic wounds and what kinds of wounding do you carry?
  • How do energetic wounds affect you and show up as physical issues?
  • What are wounding patterns and how do you get them?
  • How can chakras and energetic pattern reading help you understand your wounds?
  • How does your body show you what to pay attention to?
  • What do I do as a healer to help you with your energetic wounds or interpreting the signals from your body?

With love and light,

Damla

Healing Is…

Healing is learning to love yourself bit by bit.

Healing is not knowing when you will feel better but learning to trust the journey and know that life is happening for you, not to you.

Healing is learning that blaming and complaining about others, the situation, the place, the obstacles, life in general, is all a distraction.

Healing is not getting triggered by the same things that used to drive you crazy.

Healing is learning to pause when life feels too much, too busy or too overwhelming.

Healing is knowing what heals you, what is your medicine and coming back to it again and again.

Healing is learning that what heals you changes moment to moment.

Healing is realizing that it is your responsibility to pause, check-in, name and reach for what you need with or without help.

Healing is knowing that your core wounds determine your core needs.

Healing is learning to understand life in an entirely new, paradoxical, symbolic, chaotic, probabilistic and exciting way.

Healing is learning, growing and then learning some more.

Healing is letting go of control.

Healing is establishing healthy boundaries when you need them.

Healing is being OK with what was, what is and what might be.

Healing is releasing the fear, the stuckness, the anxiety, the constriction, the avoidance and letting love flow through you.

Healing is always available to you no matter who or where you are. If you need help starting or continuing on your healing journey, contact me.

Layers Of Healing

I had an amazing conversation with Micayla Jean and Sean Adam for the Wild Hearts Podcast. We talked all about what it means to heal and how to heal, why it is so challenging to heal, and the many layers of healing our physical, emotional and energetic bodies. I even did a mini-energy reading of them towards the end. Make sure to watch it until the end!

Eda Aktekin – Choosing Your Story

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is my 7-year-old daughter Eda Aktekin, an artist, storyteller, cat and unicorn lover, and passionate nature and Earth advocate. I wanted to have this conversation with Eda to capture her 7-year-old wisdom and light, and to honor the essence of ‘mom’ in all of us. Eda had a lot to say about:

  • how healing means taking care of nature for her,
  • why she loves art and the beauty of creating something based on your imagination (like caticorns aka cat unicorns with wings),
  • her favorite way to make art (think of your favorite animal and make it more fun by adding rainbows and unicorns),
  • her process for writing stories and how she adds problems into her stories to make them more interesting, and what cupcakes can teach us about finishing stories,
  • what she thinks I do in my healing work,
  • what points you can use for a simplified acupressure tapping for kids, and when to use tapping,
  • her definition of meditation = doing stuff that you like,
  • how she switches her thinking and the stories in her mind when something upsetting happens, and how she doesn’t believe any people or stories that make her not feel good,
  • what to do when people around you are mean or upset, and how it has nothing to do with you,
  • what she recommends me to be a better parent,
  • what she is looking forward to this summer (including this Turkish food),
  • what we can do to be happy and to enjoy our summer,
  • and what she recommends us to do to be kind to the Earth and the environment.

My favorite healing nugget from Eda is “(People are mean to each other) because they just don’t have a good day. It’s something about them, not us. You can ask what’s wrong or you can just try to ignore it. Maybe talking to the person could make it worse. Wait a few weeks or days and then maybe come back and talk to the person.”

You can find out more about Eda’s art on her Instagram page @artbyeda. You can see lots of examples of caticorns, unicorns and Eda’s love of color in her art.

With this special episode, I would like to wish a happy Mother’s day to you regardless of whether you are a biological mom or not, or regardless of whether you are a female or not. I invite you to honor that part of you that is nurturing, nourishing, and care-taking for you and others. And if you are in the process of making peace with your mother and your mother wounds, or mourning the loss of your physical mother, I hope that you can bring to life that part of you that already knows how to mother yourself.

Eda and I found a wonderful little book called ‘Mom, I wrote a book about you‘. It has lots of little writing prompts that she completed for me. One of my favorite ones is ‘If I had to get scientific about it, I’d say you’re made up of equal parts: (written by Eda) love, meditation and heart’. You can find this book at this link.

Asha Frost – Discovering Your Unique Medicine

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Asha Frost, Indigenous Medicine Woman, Healer, Soul-seer, and Mentor to other self-healers and healers. Her grandfather has given her the name of ‘Healing Rainbow Medicine Woman’ in their native language, which beautifully summarizes her mission to awaken healers into remembering their unique medicine. Asha and I talked about:

  • her physical and soul healing journey with Lupus,
  • how she came to discover her own unique medicine,
  • the power of ceremony and being in a circle,
  • what she notices and observes in the healers she mentors and what she recommends them,
  • and the unique challenges of being in business as a healer.

My favorite healing nugget from Asha is “We’ve chosen this path (as spiritual entrepreneurs) because we are meant to delve into trust. We are truly meant to learn that surrender piece. … The magic that is working behind the scenes is still happening and we can lean into that.”

You can find out more about Asha and her work at her website and follow her on Instagram. Asha is generously offering a 50% discount to all our listeners for all her Native Healing Meditations found at this link with the coupon code ‘healer’.

Encourageable

This morning my 6-year-old daughter wrote an encourageable book for me. It was exactly what I needed to hear. I am sharing her words of wisdom in this brief video in case you need to hear it too. Her first-grade teacher has a box of little cards with inspirational words and sentences in them that they call ‘encourageable’. I love the word since it summarizes how some words can lift you up and speak to your heart.

If this speaks to you, please feel free to share.

Kara Breese – Communicating With Nature

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Kara Breese, a healer for people, land, and animals. One of Kara’s magical gifts is nature communication and land healing. We talked all about how where we live is a reflection of our soul’s journey, and how going into a conversation and building a relationship with where we live can be a wonderful healing tool and resource. She reminded everyone of how nature is beyond ready and willing to come into a conversation with us and to heal us. Kara had a great insight about listening to the nudge within that tells you that there is more healing, ease, expansion, and growth to be experienced in life, all you need to do is tune in and listen.

My favorite healing nugget from Kara is “The big secret behind all this work is that we are nature, we are spirit, we are elements.” You can find out more about Kara’s work on her website and receive a complimentary intuitive consult with her at this link.

One of Kara’s passions is to collaborate with a wildlife sanctuary in Costa Rica. During the interview, she told the story of communicating with a wounded animal there. If you would like to find out more about the sanctuary and contribute to this important work, please visit this link. Your donations go to protecting, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife back into their natural habitat.

One of the things we talked about during this conversation is the importance of grounding and touching the Earth. Here’s a video I recorded a while back about how we can begin to retrain our minds and soles about connecting with the Earth and grounding. Below the video, you can see my recommendations for earthing shoes.

Forgive And Let Go

Let’s talk about seeming mistakes and regrets. In retrospect, all that you ever regret couldn’t have been any different because you were at a certain vibration at that time, which led to what happened.

All we can ever do is realize that it doesn’t help to wish that things were different (easier, smoother, luckier, etc.) or that people were different (more supportive, loving, caring, etc) or that you were different (smarter, more intuitive, with better boundaries, etc). You were who you were and whatever happened, happened for reasons that are most of the time beyond our understanding.

How do you move on from a seeming mistake? You forgive, you forgive, you forgive. You forgive the ‘you’ who didn’t know any better. You forgive the circumstances that led up to that moment that you wish didn’t happen. You forgive other people for not being what you expected them to be. You forgive them for expecting you to be different.

Forgiving doesn’t mean you don’t protect yourself with better boundaries, better preparation and better self-care for the next rodeo. Forgiving means you keep your inner landscape clear of the yuckiness of guilt, shame or regret. Not forgiving yourself means you’ll swim in muddy waters hoping things will get better somehow, they won’t. It is your greatest power and responsibility to forgive, let go, and then forgive and let go some more.

If you need help forgiving and letting go, take action and get help. I am here for you to help you shift your vibration and connect with the place within you that has already forgiven whatever or whoever has been bothering you.

With love and light,

Damla
