Obstacles To Self-Love

In this video, I am talking about self-love and how working with obstacles to self-love can be a wonderful healing tool. In my private sessions, I often run into issues of self-love. We often mistake the kind of interaction we had with our caregivers as love. Some of us have been ignored, so we ignore ourselves. Some of us have been hurt, so we hurt ourselves.

Self-love is the truth that remains when we peel away the trauma, sadness, anger, stories and programming to repeat what we thought was love. I am offering an online Biofield Tuning session to give you some energetic support in retrieving and releasing some of these patterns. I hope you make this investment to join this online group healing. A recording will be available for those who cannot join live.

What Is The Inner Child?

In this video, I am diving into what I mean when I say ‘Inner Child’ as a healer. There is a lot to know and understand when it comes to the inner child. Relating to your inner child is one of the most effective and powerful tools you have in healing your energetic wounds. I am explaining some of the ways that your inner children may try to communicate with you and how you can begin to connect with them.

Here are the references I mentioned about the ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study.

  • A brief article that summarizes the ACE Study results and gives a sample ACE survey you can take.
  • A wonderful book that explains the ACE Study and dives deep into explaining how childhood wounding can affect our health and life as an adult.

I am running a one day retreat in Massachusetts where we will dive deep into connecting with our inner children. We will practice gentle intentional movement to awaken our inner children who are ready to talk to us. We will work with sacred inquiries and energy healing to begin to tend to our inner child wounding. I hope you can join this beautiful soul retreat.

Sweet Comfort

Some days are not for big questions of life, some days are reserved for sweet comfort. Drinking your tea with all its flavors, smelling the aroma of a home cooked meal, sitting under a warm blanket, letting your cat lick your hand and inhaling the life that is all here for you. Getting lost in the seeming ordinariness of our lives, with all its deliciousness, just for the sake of it.

What makes you feel cozy, warm, content, loving inside and outside? What are your favorite routines for sweet comfort? The Danish people call it Hygge, a feeling of warm, cozy, delightful fluffiness that comes from enjoying all the things that make you feel at home. I would love to know what sweet comfort means for you. Feel free to share with me by commenting below.

If you feel like you need a moment to check-in with your body and feel into what you need most, feel free to download this meditation.

You Are Not Responsible

I worked on two friends this morning who woke up not feeling physically well. I am in the same bandwagon, woke up with a migraine and threw up (feeling better now). As I tuned their Biofield over a distance with my tuning forks, I was surprised to hear they both had the exact same message about taking on self-imposed responsibilities. When this kind of repeated message via synchronicity happens it usually tells me that this is something I need to listen up too. I am guessing you do too so here it goes:

You are not responsible for other people’s happiness. This goes for your kids, pets, partners, family, friends and anybody else in your life. Their challenges might be their gifts in disguise. You can be there for them, you can connect and listen but it is not your responsibility to make them feel a certain way ALL the time.

You are not responsible to make every single piece of your business and your office run perfectly. You are not responsible to take on every single unpleasantness, inefficiency, awkwardness or discomfort as your job to tackle, alleviate and solve. You can still do your piece but watch out for self-imposed (especially impossible) responsibilities you take on.

You are not responsible to have a perfect household. The kitchen may be reeking. The wastebasket of your toilet may be overflowing. Your shelves, drawers, cupboards may not have Konmari perfection. I am here to tell you that IT IS OK. Life will go on without you achieving a spotless picture-perfect environment.

You are not responsible to be healed 100%, with a perfect keto, vegan, paleo or other diet, with the perfect supplements each and every day, the perfect amount of exercise, yoga and meditation, and spending time in nature and whatnot. Give yourself a break and enjoy what you are able to do without shame or guilt.

You are not responsible to have a perfect body. Your body is perfect as it is. Now go love it.

You are not responsible to read each and every Facebook comment, see every Instagram story, read and respond to every email or text message or twitter post. Life does go on without social media overload.

Here’s what you are responsible for:

Meeting your own needs with or without help.

Meeting the needs of the minors and pets you live with and choosing to connect with and be present for your loved ones.

Sharing this in case you needed to hear it too.

Here’s a brief meditation to help you get started with tuning in to what you really need and tending to your needs. Please share it with anyone in your life who needs this. I really feel like we all need to get better about identifying what we need and taking action on it.

With love,

Damla

Laurie J. Hartley – Leaning Into Nature

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Laurie J. (Robert) Hartley, Mother, Therapist, Author, Healer, and Artist. In her therapy practice, Laurie lovingly combines energy healing with intentional space holding. Laurie and I talked about:

  • how journaling can be healing,
  • the self-healing benefits of getting quiet in nature,
  • how Laurie’s sacred practice of meditating with a crystal on her nature walks and then leaving it for someone else to pick up has turned into her book Heart Stone Messages,
  • combining different healing modalities to find your own unique blend,
  • and the importance of making connecting with yourself a priority as a mom (especially after sleepless nights and being covered in puke).

My favorite healing nugget from Laurie is “There’s something about meditating out in nature that I have a much harder time getting when I’m home, inside walls.”

You can find out more about Laurie and her work at her website and follow her nature notes on Instagram. You can purchase Laurie’s book Heart Stone Messages on her website. Enjoying Your Food

Have you enjoyed your food today? Have you taken the time to connect with your body and the nourishment that is in front of you? In this video, I am explaining why that is so important and how our early experiences with food (such as breastfeeding) play such a big role in how we relate to food.

I am offering the perspective that food isn’t just for physical nourishment, some of its main life-giving purposes are enjoyment and feeling supported. We have so many opportunities to connect with the life that is in our bodies and connect with the food that is in front of us and supports us each and every day.

If you would like to find out more about what may be between you and enjoying your food, please click on this link and download 12 Questions to Determine Your Energetic Wounds. It will give you an idea of what vibrational patterns may be present in your life that you aren’t aware of.

If you’ve watched this and found this useful and inspiring, please share this video, and comment below to let me know how you plan to enjoy your food today!

Kristin Thomas – Healing Imperfectly

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Kristin Thomas, Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner and Holistic Health Coach. Kristin has an amazing story of learning to heal her own chronic conditions including ulcerative colitis, hormone imbalances, leaky gut, food sensitivities and more. Kristin and I talked about:

  • Healing the body naturally with food and supplements,
  • The mind-body connection and looking at the imbalances in the mind and body as opportunities to heal deeply,
  • How our health is a continuous flow and the goal isn’t perfection but supporting our system as best we can,
  • The importance of appreciation and gratitude for all that our bodies are doing right,
  • Tapping into the signals your body is giving you,
  • Trusting the healing process (knowing the next few steps instead of all of it) and that healing is possible,
  • Working with multiple healers,
  • Trusting that as a healer who you get as clients are exactly who you are meant to help, and more.

My favorite healing nugget from Kristin is “I think so many people today feel so disconnected from their bodies and what’s going on. In big part because of a lack of understanding of how our bodies actually work. They almost feel like strangers in their own bodies, their bodies betrayed them or it’s doing something wrong and they don’t know why. You can kind of feel like you begin to separate your identity from your body. It is a really scary place to be and that’s exactly where I was in. The mind-body connection is really coming back home to your body and starting to love your body again, even if it’s not perfect. There isn’t such a thing like perfect health. You maintain and manage good health, but there are always things you can be working on. It’s about appreciating where you are and gratitude for everything your body is doing right. Because it’s not always doing everything wrong. There are a lot of things that are going right.”

You can find out more about Kristin and her work at her website. You can also connect with her on Facebook and Instagram. Kristin has two free resources that you can download and dive into: Gut Healing Recipe Guide and 10 Tips To Naturally Improve Digestion.

The Song That You Are

As I was driving back from a three-day Kirtan (mantra music) festival where I sang and chanted together with a group of 150+ people day and night, it fell into my heart that how much mantra chanting has parallels with the cyclical nature of our lives. This felt like something I needed to share with you as we are all living this one way or another, so here it goes.

Most Kirtan music starts with a slow introduction, almost like whispering, it plants the seeds of the melodies that are about to come (like Spring). The hushed tones begin to warm up the vibrational pathways of our bodies. Then comes the upbeat call and response, where the music gets louder and louder, and faster and faster. This is the time to put it all on the table, sing full force, using all your oxygen reserves and lighting the fire in your heart. This is when the vibration you are creating is felt the most by you and everybody else (like Summer). Then comes another round of slower chanting, almost like savoring what the fire of the previous part created, you slow down, you let your body and voice get calmer, you know the song is ending, this is your chance to still be in it (like Fall). The last part is simply staying silent and breathing in the vibrational essence that is still hanging in the air as nectar, as medicine. You stay still, you rest in the beauty that you have just created in partnership with everyone else. You let your body transform and integrate everything it needs to transform and integrate (like Winter).

I feel like all we are and all we do are songs. Some meant to be sung in hushed tones, some melodies overlapping each other (work, life, family), some are meant to be sung full force with all our fire and life energy. And then there is the breathing, the pauses, the highs and lows, the overlapping parts, the learning from each other, the contributing to and enhancing each other’s melodies and creating something we couldn’t have imagined creating just by singing what’s in our hearts, and the fact that it doesn’t even have to be on key all the time, it doesn’t need to be perfectly harmonized, the song that we are, the song that is in our hearts just needs to be sung, shared, and put out into the world. This, all of this, is our music that we are creating every moment, together, and it is so fricking beautiful.

I am back from my Turkey trip and ready to see one on one clients. Every time I take a long leave, I find that I come back with new juju and the first wave of sessions are always magical. You can find more about my private sessions and schedule yours here (don’t wait too long so you can catch the juju!).

With love and gratitude to all of you ?

Sheila Botelho – Supporting Your Cyclical Needs

In this Conversations With Healers episode, my guest is Sheila Botelho, a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, sustainable and cyclical self-healing enthusiast, mother and a compassionate guide for women who are looking to redefine their relationship with themselves and their health. Sheila and I touched upon:

  • the cyclical nature of our healing needs,
  • investing in our well-being before the menstruation phase, peri-menopause or menopause, or periods of loss hit us so that we have our wells full by the time cycles of life find us,
  • the need for prioritizing self-healing and self-care during periods of grief,
  • noticing how we feel and taking action on things and areas of our lives where we don’t feel as well as we could,
  • and being open to our paths changing and evolving as healers.

Sheila and I mentioned these two books in our conversation: Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder by Arianna Huffington, and The Female Brain by Louann Brizendine.

My favorite healing nugget from Sheila is “I would think I had to go 90 miles an hour every single day, even the week before my cycle, even while my period was happening. The body is actually telling us: you know what you need to slow down, you can chill out, you can get extra rest, maybe you don’t even need to work out today.”

You can find out more about Sheila and her work at her website and download her free gift ‘Simplify Your Wellness Plan – 3 Steps to Streamline Your Self-Care”.

Allowing Life To Be

Allowing life to be as it is.

Making space for a sincere allowing, without conditions and prerequisites.

Allowing your life, your healing, your relationships, your work to unfold as they need to.

Letting go of the illusion of control.

Letting go of the pattern of ‘If I worry or get angry, it means I am doing something.’

Letting go of the pattern of powerlessness, heaviness, and stuckness.

Letting go of what you think you know.

Opening up to the mystery, the beauty, and the song of life.

Allowing life to sing to you, in you, for you, with you.

Allowing the mystery to become you.

Allowing trust to be your ally, your presence to be your comfort, your joy to be your carriage, your love to be your everything.

Allowing the truth of who you are to shine brilliantly.

Allowing things to unfold with patience, with care, with a lot of love. If you have trouble allowing, contact me and let’s unfold your energetic wounds together for an allowing existence.
